With folks in my situation, people often ask, what can I do? Usually, there is really nothing. In this case, however, I do have a simple request. There is a considerable body of scientific research that indicates that focused consciousness, even from a distance, can aid in healing. The Lovingkindness Meditation is a simple practice from the Buddhist tradition that has several forms in regard to wording. Shown below is a version that I’ve created for my particular journey. I want to say that I see no way it can conflict with the practices of any other spiritual path. So I ask that, as often as you choose, you repeat words similar to these:
May Mike’s body and spirit be filled with health, love, joy and peace. And may Mike be an open channel of love, joy, peace and kindness.
Then (EXTREMELY IMPORTANT), say these words for yourself:
May my body and spirit be filled with health, love, joy and peace. And may I be an open channel of love, joy, peace and kindness.
And of course, you can use these words to bless anyone you choose. Thank you!
